FAQ
What is Triad Softball League?
We are an amateur softball organization that caters to the LGBT community and its allies. Scores are kept and recorded, so it is semi-competitive, but we emphasize good attitudes and good sportsmanship on and off the field. We go by ASA rules and umpires.
When and where are games played?
We play on Sunday afternoons at Washington Park (Washington Park Lane) in Winston-Salem. Game times are usually either 1:30 or 3:00. Double headers are rare, but may be scheduled. Spring season registers in February and lasts through June. Fall season registers in July and lasts through October.
Do I have to be good to play?
TSL welcomes all skill levels from beginners to extreme veterans. Teams are made up of equal levels.
What equipment do I need?
You will need your own glove. We suggest about a 12" or 13" mitt - whatever fits you best and you are comfortable with. Cleats or turf shoes are not required, but strongly suggested. Metal cleats are NOT allowed. There will be plenty of bats for you to use, but if you buy or bring one, it must have the ASA or USA Slowpitch Softball stamp of approval.
How do I get on a team?
All new players attend a skills assessment before each season. All players are then put into a blind draft. EVERYONE WILL BE PLACED ON A TEAM.
Can I play with a friend or relative?
Yes, everyone is allowed one paired linking. On the registration form, list them, and they can list you. We only guarantee pairs will be linked.
What if I don't know anyone else playing?
That's ok! You will quickly meet people on your team and others to make it more comfortable. We have several socials throughout the year to give everyone a chance to socialize and meet new people, including socials following games each week. Socials are published on our calendar on the website.
Does TSL need sponsors?
We are very grateful for all of our sponsors. In order to keep costs down for our players, we are continuously looking for new sponsors. Levels begin at $100 and go up to $1,000. Each level and its perks is outlined in the sponsor section of the website.
